The last 12 km of road is rough, unsealed and prone to flooding. Admire the beautiful inlet to Falls River as you walk across a 47 m suspension bridge. If the weather is too rough to safely kayak to your intended destination (the campsite you have booked), stop and wait for a few hours for sea conditions to improve. This track will take you over the steep Gibbs Hill then back down to Tōtaranui.
